How Treatment Works

Acupuncture is an ancient technique that involves using thin needles to stimulate specific points located near or on the surface of the skin. When certain trigger points on the body are accessed, hormones and chemicals are released. These substances can reduce pain, regulate the endocrine system and calm the nervous system. In Eastern cultures, these hormones and chemicals are referred to as the “energies” that flow throughout the body and are regulated through this stimulation.

Treatment also triggers an increase of electrical impulses. These impulses stimulate nerve transmission to the hypothalamic-pituitary glands at the base of the brain. This process is responsible for the release of endorphins.  A trained acupuncturist, such as those at our clinic, knows how to stimulate the correct points to bring you relief and can provide herbal medicine therapy as well.
