I started seeing Alison in July for treatment to assist in getting pregnant. I have only one fallopian tube following an ectopic pregnancy in January, and had been taking clomid and glucophage since May. My acupuncture treatments had a profound impact on my monthly cycles (including a noticeable reduction in PMS symptoms). I managed to conceive in September and am currently almost 7 weeks pregnant. After a severe case of gastroenteritis, I suffered constantly from nausea and diarrhea. While the medicines I was given by my physician worked most of the time, there were also numerous side effects. I went to Palmetto Acupuncture as a last resort-I was just so frustrated with doctors telling me "I would have to live with it." and labeling me as an IBS sufferer. As an ultra-runner, cyclist, mountain biker and kayaker, my body takes a beating. Acupuncture has not only proven to help my muscles recover more quickly after a race, it has been extremely beneficial in loosening muscles up prior to a race. I was told by two of the top Orthopedic surgeons in Columbia that I would require surgery for a staph infection as a result of a mountain bike wreck. Marty was able to cure me through the use of acupuncture and I was able to avoid having surgery and the recovery that would ensue as a result of surgery. As an ultra-runner, I developed a severe case of plantar fasciitis, which is common for runners. I have seen a significant decrease in pain due to acupuncture treatments, so much so that I was able to complete my first 75 mile ultra-run with no issues. I highly recommend Marty to any athletes who might suffer from acute or chronic issues. I have saved thousands of dollars by avoiding costly invasive surgeries, but more importantly, I have been to avoid taking strong medications which would wreak havoc on my body. Due to the nature of acupuncture and the herbal remedies Marty has prescribed to me, I am able to continue my training while healing.
